[Entrevista] Tamala - Backstage

Em entrevista ao Backstage, Tamala contou sobre como entrou em Castle e um pouco sobre sua carreira.


How did you get cast on "Castle"?
Tamala Jones: “Castle” came along right after the writer’s strike. During the writer’s strike it was dry season. So I had a meeting with my manager and agent and I was like, “We’ve got to step outside the box a little bit. Why don’t we ask around to see if they’ll let me come in even if the roles aren’t written for African-American actresses?”  The casting director [for “Castle”], Donna Rosenstein, agreed to let me come in and audition. I literally was the only African-American actress there. The role was only meant to be guest star, possibly recurring if the show got picked up. So I did my thing. Fifteen minutes after I left, they were like “You got it.” You would have thought I won the lotto. I was so happy that I got a job.

Tamala deu uma entrevista para o Wetpaint sobre a 5 temporada de Castle. Ela contou que essa temporada sera diferente de todas que ja vimos, que esta mais sexy e louca. Que o Nathan e a Stana estao em uma perfeita sincronia, como nunca vista. E para a alegria de alguns, que o Nathan esta malhando ( contou que ja da ate pra ver os peitorais).


You have said that Castle and Beckett are ridiculously hot this season. What is the hottest thing you’ve witnessed between the pair so far?

Well, I can just tell just the on-set energy is magnetic, those two. We are all in sync, but those two they are really in sync this season.

Stana shows up and her body is bangin’! I’m like, "Have you been doing lunges?" That butt is sitting up! I had to hit it a little bit. I’m like, "I’m sorry, it was an accident … or no it wasn’t, I just needed to see!" She looks like a supermodel when she steps on set. From the last season until now, I was like, wow, gorgeous. Nathan, you can tell he’s been working out. You can see the pecs — they’re coming in, honey and he’s all leaned out. It’s so sexy down there! It is like a party every day!

KarenL: Would you like to see a Lanie-centric episode in Season 5?

Tamala: I would love to! I think it’s coming. You guys have put the fire under Andrew’s feet and he is pressed to do something about it.

KarenL: Another thing that’s mentioned quite a bit is getting you drawn into a case, like you knowing the victim or being at a crime scene when something happens – like you becoming more active in an investigation.

Tamala: Well, they do a little bit of that on episode four. It’s really fun too! There’s a time when this rock star gets killed, and they were doing a documentary when they were going on tour, and so now that he’s dead the documentary people are there. And you know, when the cameras are on, people act differently. So Lanie gets a little bit involved in that way… and you gotta see her. She’s so over the top in that way. Just performing for the cameras as well as Castle.

Tamala Jones revela sua primeira impressão sobre Castle: "Eu sabia que era um vencedor"

We don't know much about Castle's resident medical examiner, the sexy and mysterious Lanie Parish, but now we have a more up-close-and-personal look at the actress who plays her — Tamala Jones.

Tamala recently sat down with Hydrogen magazine for an interview about her most memorable first-time experiences, from her first acting gig (an IBM commercial) to her first designer dress (Gucci).

But we're most concerned with how she felt in the moments immediately following her successful Castle audition. According to Tamala, she knew right away she was part of something special.

"My first feeling about Castle was that it was a winner!" the 37-year-old actress dished. "Something fresh and different from what was already on television."

But it's not just the cast and crew alone that make Castle such a special television experience. Without the extraordinarily avid fanbase, it would be just another run-of-the-mill crime procedural.  

"Thank God for loyal fans!" she exclaimed.
